I look after the side of a project that decides whether it runs smoothly: how the engagement is structured, what it costs, and what each party is committing to. Clear terms early on are what let the rest of the team concentrate on the work instead of on reopening it. A client should always know what has been agreed and what is being invoiced, so the commercial side stays quiet and the talk stays about the actual work.
